Young photographers across Hillingdon are being encouraged to take part in a new community photography exhibition at Southlands Arts Centre this spring — with free entry available to all under-18s.

Organised by Southlands Photography Club, run by community media organisation Hillingdon Vision, the exhibition aims to showcase creative talent from across the borough. Adults are also warmly welcomed to submit their work, with entry priced at just £1 per photograph.
The exhibition will open to the public at 10am on Monday 28 April and run throughout the school holidays. Visitors are encouraged to attend and enjoy a wide-ranging display of local photography, from emerging talent to seasoned enthusiasts.
A special VIP preview evening will take place on Sunday 27 April, where the Mayor of Hillingdon will select a number of winning entries. All exhibiting photographers will be invited to attend the evening.
James Carson, Chair of Southlands Photography Club, said:"We are passionate about supporting creativity at every level, but particularly among young people. This exhibition is not only a platform for artists to share their work, but also a celebration of the community that surrounds and supports them."
Among the returning exhibitors is Alicia Horne, an adult member of the club who is entering the exhibition for the third time.“I love photography and showing my work,” she said. “I even sold some of my photos last year — thanks to Hillingdon Vision, who taught me how to photograph in the first place.”
Photographers can enter online or bring their prints in person to
Southlands Arts Centre,
75 The Green,
West Drayton,
UB7 7PW
on Saturday 27 April between 10am and 4pm.
While the historic venue is not fully wheelchair accessible due to its listed status, organisers have ensured that the event remains inclusive. A virtual tour will be available for visitors with mobility challenges, and any specific works can be brought to the accessible café area upon request.
The on-site café will be open throughout the exhibition, offering refreshments and a welcoming atmosphere.
The exhibition is sponsored in memory of Richard Wynne, the club’s former Chair, whose legacy continues to support accessible community arts in the borough. All proceeds and donations will go toward future arts programming.
