Wendy's apologises to schoolgirls for "grave error"

Wendy's Uxbridge restaurant has corrected a "grave error" with the sign at its Uxbridge branch after a glaring grammatical error was pointed out by 2 local schoolgirls.

Nepheli, a pupil at Hayes Park School, wrote to the restaurant after she noticed the apostrophe in Wendy's was missing.

Nepheli wrote to company bosses to inform them of their "grave error", showing reporters her letter to the store:

"As part of our English lessons, we were asked to look out for any punctuation errors locally. I visited Uxbridge with my family, we were wandering around Uxbridge High Street, and I was about to enter your restaurant when I stumbled upon a heinous mistake”.

.

The schoolgirl pointed out that the incorrect sign said Wendys and was missing an apostrophe when it should instead say Wendy's

"I was flabbergasted!"

Nepheli said when she searched online every other mention of Wendy's had an apostrophe so she decided to inform the Uxbridge branch, so it could correct the mistake.

Her letter continued:

"The children at Hayes Park, our headteacher (Mrs Broadhurst) and the Apostrophe Protection Society would very much appreciate it if the miscalculation would be admonished."

Wendy's quickly acted to correct the mistake and apologised to the girls for the grammatical mistake.

The company said it was"important the brand name and logo can be "quickly recognized" by existing and new fans.
"Ensuring that our restaurant signage is consistent in every city, country and continent around the world is a big part of that,"

As a reward for helping Wendy's with correcting the error the girls were treated to a grand unveiling of the corrected sign complete with press coverage and a grand reveal. Wendy's also gave the girls chips and milkshakes to say thank you. Wendy's also presented the girls with a plaque honouring the Apostrophe Protection Society at the school, of which both girls are members.
