Uxbridge beat Hayes and Yeading United in Local Derby

A late goal by Callum Bunting helps Uxbridge men's football team beat local rivals and favourites Hayes and Yeading United 2-1 in the Buildbase FA Trophy* Third Qualifying Round.

Uxbridge began the game strongly and got an early goal in the twelfth minute through Lonit Talla. Hayes and Yeading bounced back well and were rewarded six minutes before half time as Francis Amartey helped them level the score.

With a goalless start to the second half, it looked as though the game was going to a penalty shoot-out. However, in the 88th minute, substitute Callum Bunting scored a decisive goal to take Uxbridge through to the first round proper of the FA Trophy. Here they will face Cray Wanderers.

Following the game, Hayes and Yeading United wished Uxbridge the 'best of luck' in the next round of the trophy. Uxbridge returned the favour, wishing Hayes and Yeading United the best of luck for the remainder of the season 'especially on Saturday against Carlisle in the FA Cup first round'.

*The Buildbase FA Trophy is competed for by Step 1-4 clubs in the National League system, most of whom whom are semi-professional.
