Police have launched an urgent appeal to trace a suspect caught on camera snatching a phone from a pedestrian after mounting the pavement in a brazen daylight robbery.

The incident, captured in a dramatic video released by police, shows the suspect driving onto the pavement before grabbing a mobile phone from a passerby and speeding away.

Officers described the act as "dangerous and reckless" and have urged the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the individual.

The footage, which accompanies this report, reveals the suspect’s vehicle veering onto the pavement towards an unsuspecting pedestrian. Within seconds, the driver reaches out, snatches the phone, and accelerates away, leaving the victim visibly shocked.

Police have confirmed that the victim, though shaken, did not sustain any serious injuries. Officers are now reviewing CCTV footage and appealing to witnesses who may have seen the vehicle before or after the incident.

A spokesperson for the police said: "This was a calculated and dangerous act that could have had serious consequences. We are determined to find the individual responsible and are asking anyone who may have seen this vehicle or has relevant information to get in touch immediately."

Authorities are also warning the public to be extra vigilant with their mobile devices when walking near busy roads or pavements.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police via their non-emergency number or report details anonymously to Crimestoppers.
