Julia Buckingham to step down as Brunel's Vice-Chancellor

Professor Julia Buckingham CBE has announced plans to step down from her roles as Vice-Chancellor and President of Brunel University London.

Prof Buckingham, who has held the roles at Brunel since 2012, said it had been a “huge privilege” to serve as the University’s Vice Chancellor; to steer it “through some of the most important changes ever seen in the higher education sector”.

Being careful to avoid the word ‘retirement’ Prof Buckingham did say she hoped to now spend more time with her family and friends in Cornwall.

Brunel’s governing Council will now begin the process of finding a replacement. Professor Buckingham will remain in post until a successor is found to enable a smooth handover.
