From midnight on Tuesday 15 December, Hillingdon will move into stricter coronavirus restrictions, along with the rest of the rest of London and parts of Essex and Hertfordshire.
Tighter restrictions come into place to curb the rapid spread of COVID 19. Hillingdon now has 173.5 cases per 100,000 people. This is more than double the number of cases it had when it first entered Tier 2 (at midnight on Friday 16 October).
Tier 3 means you will no longer be able to eat out in pubs and restaurants which be closed apart from for takeaways and deliveries.
Residents will also be unable to visit indoor entertainment venues, such as cinemas or bowling alleys, which will be closed for the period London remains in the tier.
At present Schools are to remain open until they break up for Christmas. However, the Mayor of London has called on the UK Government to allow schools bring teaching online from tomorrow (Tuesday) in order to help limit the spread of the virus.
Last night, Sadiq Khan's spokesperson told the Daily Telegraph: “The mayor is backing the early closure of schools and would like the Government to consider shutting schools from Tuesday”.
London’s place in Tier 3 will be reviewed on 23rd December and weekly from then on.
The Government's Christmas measures, which in effect suspend the tier system across the UK for 5 days over the festive period, are still expected to begin on December 23rd as planned. No 10 said the Government "has no plans to review the Christmas guidelines".
