PIGLET HAS GONE MISSING

Mellie, a former local resident is facing a heart-wrenching ordeal after her dog, Piglet, went missing during a violent burglary at a friend's home in Harefield. The incident has left Mellie devastated, prompting a desperate appeal to the public for assistance in locating her cherished companion.

The ordeal unfolded on Thursday evening when Mellie returned home from a routine dental appointment. She was staying with a friend for 2 days as she wanted to visit her dentist and preferred to stay registered rather than move dentist closer to home. As she approached the residence, a friend's houseboat, Mellie was met with a scene of utter chaos. The windows had been shattered, with glass strewn across the floor, and the curtains billowing in the wind. It was evident that intruders had violently forced their way into her friend's home, leaving destruction in their wake.

"I felt my heart sink as I saw the broken windows and the curtains blowing in the wind. I knew something was terribly wrong," Mellie recounted, her voice trembling with emotion.

In the midst of the burglary, Piglet, Mellie's beloved dog, vanished without a trace. Despite Mellie's frantic search efforts, Piglet's whereabouts remain unknown, leaving Mellie heartbroken and desperate for answers.

"Piglet is my everything. Losing him in this way has been absolutely devastating. He's not just a pet, he's family," Mellie expressed, her eyes filled with tears.

Determined to find her furry friend, and with long distances to home, Mellie has been sleeping in her car, tirelessly scouring the area in hopes of locating Piglet as her friends has had to move the boat on due to canal regulations. The emotional toll of the situation prompted Mellie to take compassionate leave from work, with her employers supporting her decision. However, the unpaid leave has added financial strain to Mellie's already distressing circumstances.

In a heartening display of solidarity, a compassionate resident initiated a GoFundMe page to assist Mellie during this challenging time. The page has garnered significant support, with donations pouring in to aid Mellie in her search for Piglet.

Despite the community's rallying behind Mellie, the situation has been further compounded by prank calls in response to posters seeking information about Piglet. These malicious actions only serve to exacerbate Mellie's anguish, hindering the efforts to locate her beloved pet.

In an interview, Mellie expressed her anguish, saying, "I was burgled and now my baby is missing." Her words reflect the profound emotional impact of losing Piglet, who she describes as her "baby." Mellie recounted the events surrounding Piglet's disappearance, detailing the burglary and her frantic search efforts thereafter.

Mellie's interview transcript reveals the depth of her distress and the extent of her determination to find Piglet. Despite facing adverse weather conditions and unfamiliar territory, Mellie persevered in her quest to locate her beloved dog.

A substantial finder's fee has been offered to anyone who returns Piglet unharmed, underscoring the importance of his safe return to Mellie. The community remains hopeful that Piglet will be reunited with his devoted owner, and efforts to find him continue unabated. "Those wishing to donate or find out more can search for the Facebook group 'Find Piglet UB9'," Mellie urged, her voice filled with hope.

Karen Harding, local Coordinator for DogLost.co.uk an organisation working to reunite lost canines with their owners told The Hillingdon Herald, “Mellie’s situation is heartbreaking, and it is a privilege to be able to support her in such a difficult time, we want to ask anybody who sights piglet to please not chase him or call his name, we simply ask that they call us as soon as possible. This is because dogs who are frightened or lost go into survival mode and won’t respond anyway, chasing them simply heightens their fear causing them to run further. Our experienced teams have many ways to help contain and reunite piglet should he be sighted. I thank the public on Mellie’s behalf and urge anybody wishing to help to join piglets Facebook group, display a poster or donate to the go fund me page. We also have a group for other lost and found pets in Hillingdon which can be found on Facebook”.

As Mellie grapples with the anguish of losing her cherished companion, the community stands in solidarity, offering support and assistance in any way possible. The search for Piglet serves as a reminder of the profound bond between humans and their animal companions, and the lengths to which individuals will go to ensure their safety and well-being.
