Hillingdon's Leaders of all stripes have committed to taking the coronavirus vaccine when it becomes available to them.
Boris Johnson Conservative MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip has inferred he will be taking the UK-approved Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. He told the Daily Mirror:
“I would say to all those who are scared [about taking the COVID 19 vaccine], don’t be”.
“It's safe, it's the right thing to do, it's good for you and it's good for the whole country”.
The other two MPs covering the Hillingdon borough, John McDonnell and David Simmonds have also committed to having the Vaccine.
Mr McDonnell told Hillingdon Vision: “I will be taking the vaccine when it’s my turn. If we are to build up immunity within the community then I encourage everyone to do so”.
Peter Curling, leader of the Labour group on Hillingdon Council, said: "I will take the vaccine when it's available to me.
“As a 55-year-old I have recently become eligible for the flu jab and have recently had that. The protection against Covid is vitally important and I would not hesitate in having the COVID jab, as soon as I'm eligible for it".
We contacted Cllr Teji Barnes (Mayor of Hillingdon), Cllr Ray Puddifoot (outgoing Leader of Hillingdon Council), and Ian Edwards (incoming leader of Hillingdon Council) however, as of yet, have received no response.
