Hillingdon Council has announced a new partnership with the London Early Years Foundation (LEYF) to operate three of its early years centres as part of an initiative to enhance childcare services while ensuring value for money.

LEYF, a charitable childcare social enterprise, will take over the management of Nestles Avenue Early Years Centre in Hayes, South Ruislip Early Years Centre, and Uxbridge Early Years Centre following the council’s decision to grant the organisation 15-year leases. Currently running 41 nurseries across 12 London boroughs, LEYF has a strong track record of delivering high-quality early years education, with its settings consistently rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.
This arrangement is expected to maintain and improve early years provision in the borough, offering stability for families while allowing the operator to potentially expand the number of available childcare places. Additionally, the council will generate income through the agreement, supporting its broader financial strategy.
As part of a wider restructuring of family services, children’s centre provisions previously based at these sites have been relocated. Services in South Ruislip will now operate from The Wren at the Queens Walk Resource Centre, aligning with the council’s Family Hub Strategy to streamline support for families.
The move is part of Hillingdon Council’s ongoing efforts to make the best use of its assets, reduce operational costs, and continue delivering high-quality public services. By partnering with a well-established childcare provider, the council aims to ensure that local children receive a strong start in life within a nurturing and high-quality learning environment.
