Heavy Traffic Alert: Roadworks Cause Chaos Across West Drayton, With Multiple sets of street works, Including those at Stockley Flyover and High Street West Drayton.

West Drayton residents and commuters are bracing for a week of heavy traffic as roadworks, including those at Stockley Flyover and West Drayton High Street, contribute to delays in the area. However, the inconvenience is expected to be minor, with National Highways assuring that delays will be kept under 10 minutes, although the assurances did nothing for some residents.

James Thompson, who lives in West Drayton, told us how it took him over an hour to travel from one end of West Drayton High Street to the other. "I missed out on dinner with my family as it's taken me over an hour to travel the length of the high street. It's stupid to allow so many works at once. I haven't been able to see my children this evening because of it; it's too late now they are in bed. I think next time, the people planning should think about how their work affects the community."

The forthcoming roadworks are part of National Highways' routine maintenance schedule, aiming to ensure the safety and longevity of major roadways in and around Hillingdon. Here's a breakdown of the upcoming closures:

  1. M4 Westbound (Junction 4B to Junction 5):

  • Duration: 10:00 pm, March 14, to 5:30 am, March 18

  • Nature of Closure: Lane closures for inspection works

  • Expected Delays: Slight, under 10 minutes

  1. M4 Eastbound (Junction 4B to Junction 5):

National Highways, responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, ensures that closures of smaller roads are not included in their schedule. While the roadworks may lead to temporary inconveniences, the organization emphasizes their commitment to minimizing disruptions and prioritizing public safety.

Residents and commuters are urged to plan their journeys accordingly, taking into account the specified closure timings and potential delays. National Highways assures the community that these works are essential for maintaining the integrity of the road network and ensuring a smooth and safe driving experience in the long run.
