Hayley Chart Set to Release Long-Awaited Single "When I'm Gone"
For years, shoppers and passersby in Uxbridge town centre have been captivated by the soulful, powerhouse vocals of Hayley Chart. A familiar face on the local music scene, Hayley has built a dedicated following—from busking on the high street to performing at the town’s annual Christmas celebrations. Now, she is set to reach an even larger audience with the release of her new single, When I'm Gone.
Her talent is no secret. Many will remember her from ITV’s The Voice, where she delivered a stunning rendition of Sinnerman, wowing the judges with her powerful voice and commanding stage presence. That moment solidified her as an artist to watch, but rather than chasing TV fame, Hayley chose to stay true to her passion. She even turned down a hosting role on a well-known television show, believing it would detract from her music career.

Now, she’s bringing that authenticity to her latest track. Due for release on 28th March, When I'm Gone is deeply personal—a song Hayley first wrote 33 years ago about a past relationship.
"I wrote it about a narcissistic relationship I was in at the time. I used to keep a diary, and that’s where the lyrics originally came from. It was my way of processing everything."
Despite its emotional origins, When I'm Gone is not a slow ballad but a pulsating house dance track that channels empowerment and self-liberation.
"It’s about self-belief, realization, and freedom. We’ve all been in relationships where we’ve had enough and needed to walk away. I wanted to capture that feeling in a way that makes people want to dance."
Hayley collaborated with producer Joey O’Gorman for the track’s beat but hopes to take on more of the production process herself in the future.
Alongside the release, fans can look forward to a music video created in partnership with Hillingdon Vision, a local community media organization.
"I love that I’m getting to work with a team from Hillingdon. This place has always supported me—whether it’s people stopping to listen while I busk or opportunities to sing at events. It means so much."
One of those who has been touched by Hayley’s performances is Rosemary Harris, a local Uxbridge resident who doesn’t often get out due to a disability.
"Seeing Hayley perform in town is wonderful. I don’t get to go out much, but when I do, performers like Hayley really change the mood. It encourages people to stop and talk, and for me, that’s so important. I don’t get to talk to many people, but Hayley always makes the effort to make the public feel special."
While When I'm Gone is a standalone release, it marks the beginning of a larger project. Hayley is currently working on an EP featuring a mix of genres, allowing fans to experience the full range of her vocal and artistic abilities.
"I don’t want to be known for just one style. There’s so much I want to explore, and this is only the start."
Between recording sessions, Hayley continues to perform live, often singing covers at gigs, though she hopes to introduce more original songs soon.
"It takes time to raise the funds for studio sessions and collaborations, but I’m working on it, and I can’t wait to share more of my own music."
