70 Firefighters and 10 Fire engines tackle giant Hillingdon Blaze

A large fire has broken out at 2 storage units located just a moments walk from Hillingdon Hospital.


Over 70 Firefighters attended the extremely large blaze and more than 10 fire service vehicles where in attendance along with the London Ambulance Service and Metropolitan Police. The London fire service confirmed in a statement that a one storey Storage Unit was ablaze and firefighters continued to tackle the fire , residents where warned to stay indoors and keep windows closed.

The scene was extremely busy with a very high number of emergency vehicles in attendance including Fire engines, fire brigade command units and a hose laying appliance, one appliance coming all the way from Paddington. Fire service vehicles had to extract water from the river Pinn in order to bring the blaze under control.


The site a former garden centre is believed to be used currently by SDTA productions who are rumoured to work with video subscription service Netflix. SDTA Productions Ltd and Netflix have been contacted for comment.


The statement issued by the London Fire Brigade via Twitter Read:

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a fire at a storage unit on Pield Heath Road in Uxbridge.

Two single-storey storage units and two containers were alight.

Station Commander Clive Robinson, who was at the scene, said: "Firefighters worked hard to bring the fire under control and stop it spreading to other units.
"There was a lot of smoke, so we advised nearby residents to keep their doors and windows closed.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 18 calls to the blaze.
The Brigade was called at 1913 and the fire was under control by 2352. Fire crews from Hillingdon, Hayes, Heathrow, Southall, Ruislip, Harrow and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation."
