5 simple ways to practise self-care every day

How often have you found yourself in the situation where life gets busy, either work or personal lives and suddenly all of your self-care habits fall to the wayside? It's easy to let things slide, but you owe it to yourself to make your own wellbeing and self-care a priority.

But self-care doesn’t always have to be about the big things–those small, everyday habits can also make all the difference.

So today, we’re sharing 5 simple ways you can practise self-care every day… something you can easily slip into your daily routine.

Drink more water, particularly when you first wake up! Dehydration can leave you feeling sluggish and not your best, so getting your water intake in can really affect how you feel throughout the day. If you’re feeling sluggish in the afternoon, reach for a glass of water before a cup of caffeine and see if that helps.

Write some pages: this could even be a little plan for a day or what you want to achieve… but try either starting or ending your day by putting the pen to paper and get some words down. It could help clear your mind and organise your thoughts… perhaps write what you’re grateful for or something you feel went well.

Take 5 minutes to just breathe: this is important for those busier days, to make sure to still check in with yourself. Prioritise your self-care, even if it is only 5 minutes where you realign your breaths and take a moment to just… breathe and check in with yourself.

30 minutes of movement–don’t worry: you don’t need to do an intense workout every day, that’s not always possible. But even if it’s just a lunchtime stroll, take time to get some movement in your day… your body and mind will thank you!

Get some sleep: it’s true that most people simply don’t get enough sleep, but it’s vital to our health and wellbeing. Assess how your sleep was the night before, if you need to make some adjustments to your routine to maximise the sleep you can get. This could mean working on a sleeping routine to get you in the mind-set to sleep quicker, or heading for the pillow half an hour earlier than usual.

What self-care rituals have become daily habits for you?
